We are still rubbing our eyes, but it’s now official. Our love for slow-cooked food, local sourcing, and every single afternoon of shared secrets on our terrace has paid off: Taberna La Era is now officially part of the Repsol Guide Soletes!

There are mornings when opening the doors in Askoeta (Escota) takes a little extra effort, especially when the Alavese cold bites. But the thrill of cooking for you, seeing your faces when you try our beans, or sharing a drink during our afternoon get-togethers makes it all worthwhile. What we never expected was that one day, a letter would arrive from Madrid that would completely change our smiles.

A team of culinary experts has been exploring every single corner of the country, searching for those “best-kept secrets” favored by locals. Charming spots, with an authentic je ne sais quoi that keeps you coming back time and time again. And among all the local taverns, bars, and counters… they set their eyes on our home.

This recognition originally came to us back in April 2022, and today, in the middle of 2026, it brings us the exact same joy as the very first day to see the certificate hanging on our wall. It is proof that things made with genuine care stand the test of time and mature beautifully.

What does being a Solete mean to us?

For the Repsol Guide, a Solete is that go-to spot you recommend to your best friends with your eyes closed because you know it never fails. It stands for warmth, a delightful menu, and a great atmosphere. For Susana, for Iñaki, and for the entire team pushing forward every day at Taberna La Era, this award is, quite simply, a giant hug to our way of understanding hospitality.

This award isn’t going to change our essence. Don’t expect long fine-linen tablecloths or dishes with unpronounceable names overnight. We are going to keep being the same as always: the cozy stone country house, the open grill firing up, the honest service, KM0 local products, and that meticulously curated pintxos counter that you love to enjoy just a stone’s throw away from Vitoria.
